well, according to what I could find, she's supposed to be trained for air by Aang's son, Tenzin. no idea about Appa and the bison we saw... no idea how long one of them lives but then... in that one episode where you learn of Aang meeting Appa they said they bond for life so I'd assume Appa would've died not long after Aang or before Aang and on their facebook page for it I think I read that it wasn't Appa. and it sort of does sound like there could be other air benders but... then why still put it as being under the last airbender? orginally it was just Legend of Korra not Last Airbender: Legend of Korra.
hmm, that's also interesting to see, all the change and developement in structures and clothing for really only 1 or 2 generations, but then under Zuko the fire nation could actually share their technological achievements and inovations rather than just taking that idea and using it to conquer and force it on all the other nations. also I think most of what we saw occurred in the "united" city of all the nations vs the glimpse of a water tribe place still being out of snow and ice. I suppose the clothing also kind of makes sense for that city where forward progress is pushed more than each nations cultural identity.
she seems a lot more aggressive all around, and all the ages for this show seem to be older as well.

some other thoughts...
also in regards to the boon in technology. It could be rather similar to what happened after WWI, huge boon in technological improvements and growth as tech for war was changed for societal uses... and then not long after the great depression. which could relate to the conflict theme of anti benders vs benders in this one. where with all this technology they no longer need benders and the anti benders could point back to the war and say the war was really all about the benders and the benders fault as seen when it ended after the fire lord's bending was taken away. therefore they could remove whatever other crises are facing them by getting rid of all bending. hmm, and seeing how easily angered or rather aggressive Korra is, it wouldn't be surprising if she gets baited into causing some trouble or distruction wherein they can lump her from being the resolute problem solver Avatar that links ALL the people to the spiritual world to the Avatar is just another bender and shows that all benders are problems(or force ideologies) to(on) the common people and an Avatar is only needed to keep benders in line and this one can't do the job. (kind of like that one episode where the village hated the Avatars)
so some possible themes in this one could be, tech vs cultural heritage, science vs spiritural world, along with the special vs regular joe theme.

that sounds pretty likely.the whole anti bender vs bender thing, and would make sense as far as how there would be a plot. Maybe shell start a war a between benders and non benders and someone other then the avatar will end up being the hero to stop it lol

that's true... appa probably wouldn't live that long. also looking close in the preview, there might be more than one bison!
think the name was changed because the pandora avatar maker dude said they couldn't use avatar.... >>
yeah, i bet that it is the united city that's so advanced. and probably for reasons like you said.
yeah, korra seems to have a personality more like zuko's and it could be easy to provoke a fight with her xD which they could use to argue that benders just cause trouble
apparently the mask guy is the main badguy in the show

hmm, does seem like there are... which implies there were more bison somewhere and more bison must mean more airbenders... maybe.
but it's Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra. wow, that's kind of like the Star Wars: Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast! lol
hmm... I wonder if they also sort of did that to please the Zutara fans... combing Zuko and Katara traits...
must be the leader of the anti-benders... or stirs them up for some gain of his own

wait..so in the uk is it Avatar: The Legend of Anng: the Legend of Korra?
well it will certainly be differnt with an aggresive avatar since the last one was flighty dighty not care passivist..will make the training parts more interesting...though not sure where theyll get a voice of reason, just imagine aggressive korra being trained by someone like toph..

yeah, more bison might mean more airbenders... since appa was male xD dunno, that's what i heard :/ apparently that guy thinks he owns the name >> think she already knows all but air, so she's just training with tenzin, who is probably just like aang... which is too bad, it'd be fun to see her fight vs. toph's daughter (because apparently she has one) for training!

that or at the very least some of the bison flew away and survived the destruction but it seems unlikely they'd leave the airbenders. I suppose its possible there are also wild ones but none were ever mentioned
hmm, he must figure its like his ticket to eternal fame or something... surprised he didn't go after the Avatar live action that came out not long after his own...
I wonder if toph becomes like king boomi...

yeah, seemed like the bison were all domesticated with them bonding with one air bender dunno xD guess shamalan has some power? lol rofl that'd be interesting

so it just doesn't seem likely that there were wild ones and if some had survived on alone it seems likely they'd have eventually gone back to the air temples that used to be their homes... which they didn't. hope they have some good explaining flashbacks
guess so xD
yupyup, because you figure it is possible seeing as its just the next generation avatar and boomi lived to be over 100

yeah... you'd hope so. and... maybe explain what happened to zuko's mom! lol
still, you'd think they could have avatar in the name... >> it's not like it's soley avatar... and they did have that name before the movie!
yep yep. plus toph was the youngest of the group... and seems that earth benders lived longer (or at least you saw more older earth benders)

could do that, suppose Zuko could still be alive too and give a flashback for him about finding his mom and how this would somehow teach an object lesson to korra.
indeed, just calling it avatar would be one thing, but avatar: blah blah is quite another. Unless he plans on doing a sequal with a similar title structure but still...
A few older water benders too, albeit one was nuts. XD Not many older fire benders other than Iroh, sword teacher, and the one that killed katara's mom. But earth benders had a lot from generals to just normal people that you didn't really see elsewhere.

yeah, it'll be interesting to see who's still alive and who isn't. and what they have to say to korra xD yeah, besides, they originally had the word avatar.... so.... dunno how the guy can claim the rights >> saw a few older ones, but seemed more older earth people. tho it could be because we saw a lot of the major earth cities...

will make a way for them to have flashbacks that involve the previous characters and answer some of the questions... if they plan to answer them.
indeed, they had the first claim of its use... so I guess the guy must've trapped them into having only the Avatar: The Last Airbender title and nothing else...
hmm, did see that one big water city though and not too many older people there but... yeah, saw mostly earth people towns, cities, farms, etc.
