What's interesting is that no news agencies seem to be giving this much if any coverage.

that's because the news agencies don't show news much anymore! and are biased

yeah... pretty much give their opinions on stuff and so everything becomes slanted. blah. oh well, guess that means they don't take issue with it.

stupid news... hope it never makes it through. imagine they have a time of it trying to enforce it. but then they'd probably end up with some huge protests because people love their internet

yeah, why would they even create a law like that... that would take tons of money for them to try to enforce. they already spend too much *nod*
probably... after it passed and they're all of a sudden like... why can't i do anything?! no facebook at work?! AGGH!!

not our airwaves! can't lose those!! but web rights... meh... we're news, they wouldn't mess with our site. Sopa actully would. Its user posted content. most news sites have some way to comment on articles and such. If someone in one of those comments says anything that they don't own (could be as simple as mentioning a band name or a movie name or a character from a book) the entire site could be closed down without question by sopa, as well as charge the site a costly fine for displaying it.

a lot of news sites i see have the users comment on their news on facebook, though, and not their actual website

lol. tv news ones I think tend to use facebook and other media for commenting and such but the online news have comment ability on their articles or some do I guess. they'd probably just edit their site to make it so you have to be a user and so if a user did that it'd be the user getting fined... that or they'd just remove commenting ability.
